How we verify listings
KidEase checks licences against trusted sources. We do not scrape government sites, invent licence numbers, or treat being in the catalogue as a live government match.
Listings & verification
Listing pages stay short on purpose. Facility type, claim status, and licence badges are KidEase checks — not a government certificate. The explanations live here.
KidEase lists licensed centres, nurseries, and homes from provincial and territorial registries. The badge above is the current KidEase check — not a government certificate.
What this means
KidEase verifies centres, licences, and who owns a listing. Screening on file means Admin confirmed required documents are on file. KidEase does not issue Vulnerable Sector Checks — only local police or RCMP (or BC CRRP) can.
Licensed facility types in Canada
Child care centre
A licensed child care centre is care in a dedicated building or room — not a private home. In Manitoba this is Facility Type Centre: usually full-day care with staff ratios set by the licence.
Family child care
Licensed family child care is regulated care in a caregiver’s residence, with a smaller group than a centre. KidEase only lists provincially licensed homes — not nannies or unlicensed sitters.
Group child care home
A licensed group child care home (group family) is regulated care in a caregiver’s residence with a larger group than family child care. In Manitoba this is its own licence class — not a centre and not an unlicensed sitter.
Nursery school / preschool
A licensed nursery school (preschool) is usually a part-day early learning program for preschool-age children. In Manitoba this is Facility Type Nursery, separate from a full-day centre or a licensed home.
School-age
School-age / before-after care is licensed care for school-aged children, often in a school or a dedicated room, before and after the school day. In Manitoba this is separate from a full-day centre or nursery school.
Unclaimed listings
Unclaimed means no operator has proven they run this centre on KidEase yet. Facts may come from the public registry. The listing stays searchable. Claimed or Claim verified means the operator, not that KidEase police-checked staff.
Manitoba catalogue match
Manitoba listings can show Catalogue-matched when the licence number is in the bundled KidEase snapshot. That is not a live scrape of childcaresearch.gov.mb.ca. Official inspections stay on the government site.
Other provinces stay fail-closed
Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Québec, and the remaining provinces and territories have stub adapters. They never light a live government match. Staff review the official registry before a listing can show Registry-checked.
Claim and ownership
A director claims an existing listing, uploads the current provincial licence, and KidEase reviews ownership. Unclaimed pages stay searchable. Claim verified means the operator, not that KidEase police-checked staff.
Payments and payouts
Parent card payments and centre bank payouts stay off while Stripe is in review. KidEase does not say centres are paid quickly until payouts actually clear.
Screening documents — not a KidEase police check
Daycares upload required certificates (Manitoba: Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact for home-based households). KidEase Admin reviews the file. KidEase does not issue Vulnerable Sector Checks — only local police or RCMP (or BC CRRP) can. Parents see a centre-level Screening on file badge after required current documents are cleared. Individual PDFs and names stay private.
The official provincial or territorial registry is always the source of truth for inspections, complaints, and licence status.
