What licensed daycares must provide
Parents should expect a provincial licence and current screening documents. KidEase reviews those files. Police checks stay with police.
What parents should expect
A licensed centre, nursery, or home. A Claim verified listing means KidEase confirmed the operator. Screening on file means Admin confirmed required current documents are on file for people at that centre. It is not a KidEase background check of every educator.
What daycares must provide
A current provincial or territorial licence. For people 18+ who work with children: a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search from local police or RCMP. In Manitoba, a Child Abuse Registry Check as well, and a Prior Contact Check for home-based households where that rule applies.
What KidEase does
KidEase matches licences, reviews claim ownership, stores screening documents privately, and lets Admin clear or reject them. We never publish individual certificates or say KidEase ran a police check.
What police / RCMP do
Only a local police service or the RCMP (or British Columbia’s Criminal Records Review Program) can issue a Vulnerable Sector Check. Private companies and KidEase cannot.
Manitoba first
Manitoba packs are seeded: Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact for home-based roles. Other provinces start with a VSC stub and will expand.
Screening files are PIPEDA-sensitive. They stay on the daycare and Admin desks. Guests and parents never see the PDF, the person’s name, or the name of an individual check on a listing.
